Donate Timeshare
Do you feel that you're stuck with a timeshare that you're tired of, that you don't want anymore and that you can't sell for some reason?Did you try selling it on eBay? If not, you should seriously consider it. If you have already tried it, keep reading.
Just like donating cars, boats, and recreational vehicles, more and more vacation owners are choosing to donate their timeshares to a worthy cause and exchange any profit for a deduction in their taxes. This is very popular with people struggling to sell their timeshare.
So, if you're one of them and if you're definitely tired of thinking about selling it or the appraisal fees are too high and you just want to donate your timeshare, there are many charities that will gladly accept your timeshare as a tax deductible donation so you don't have to pay those maintenance fees any longer. Another savings you get when donating timeshares will come from saving on your property taxes for the timeshare you've been paying for every year.
Before making your final decision about what organization to donate it to, make sure you do your homework first. Not all organizations are legitimate. Excellent organizations that offer timeshare donation programs are National Foundation for Cancer Research, Gifts for Sight, American Kidney Fund, and others.
Keep in mind that the profit you make on selling your timeshare is taxable. Your donation could result in a sizable tax deduction with far less hassle than trying to sell it.
Rent Timeshare
Instead of selling your timeshare, consider renting it. Talk to your relatives, friends, and coworkers. Talking just to these people you will most likely find at least one or two candidates to rent your timeshare to each year or as often as you like. Yes, whatever your unit may be - be it a condo, a villa, a vacation home - it's your choice what to do with it.If you don't want to ask your relatives and friends, talk to the local (to your timeshare) real estate agency that specializes in renting condos and timeshares. They might be able to quickly find your tenant, but they'll charge you a fee for their service.
Your best bet is finding someone among your family, friends or coworkers - people that you know. People that know you will take a better care of your unit and will tell you if they mess something up. In addition, you will save on the agency fees and will probably make a better deal to the person or family you rent your unit to.
